The fourth edition of the Mediterranean Conference on Pattern Recognition and Artificial Intelligence (MedPRAI’2020) will be held on December 20-22, 2020, in Hammamet, Tunisia. The event will provide an interdisciplinary discussion forum to share the recent advancements in different areas of pattern recognition, machine learning and artificial intelligence.
A selection of high quality manuscripts presented at MedPRAI 2020 will be invited to submit an extended version of their work for a potential publication in a Special Issue on “Emerging trends in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning” in Neural Computing and Applications. In addition to the selected papers from MedPRAI 2020, the special issue will be open to all contributions covering the recent advances in various areas of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence. Quality and originality in theory and methodology of pattern recognition and artificial intelligence must be highlighted. Papers can also be application-oriented but should demonstrate enough originality with reasonable theory involved.
Submissions are invited in the following topics of interest: Statistical, structural and syntactic pattern recognition, neural networks, machine learning, data mining, graph-based techniques for pattern recognition, object recognition, signal analysis, image coding and processing, shape and texture analysis, computer vision, robotics, remote sensing, document processing, text and graphics recognition, digital libraries, speech recognition, music analysis, multimedia systems, natural language analysis, information retrieval, biometrics, biomedical pattern analysis and artificial intelligence.

Peer Review Process
All the papers will go through a double blind review process and will be reviewed by at least two reviewers. A thorough check will be done and the guest editors will check any significant similarity between the manuscript under consideration and any published paper or submitted manuscripts of which they are aware. In such case, the article will be directly rejected without proceeding further. Guest editors will make all reasonable effort to receive the reviewer’s comments and recommendation on time.
Each manuscript should not exceed 16 pages in length (inclusive of figures and tables).
Paper submissions for the special issue should follow the submission format and guidelines (https://www.springer.com/journal/521/submission-guidelines).
Authors should select ‘SI: Emerging trends in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (MedPRAI 2020)’ during the submission step ‘Additional Information’.
The submitted papers must provide original research that has not been published nor currently under review by other venues. Previously published conference papers should be clearly identified by the authors at the submission stage and an explanation should be provided about how such papers have been extended. At least 30% of new content is expected.
