Special Issue Call for Papers:

Scope and Objective

The 33rd ACM/SIGAPP Symposium On Applied Computing – Embedded Systems Track will be held in Pau, France, 9-13 April 2018. The focus of this conference track is on the application of both novel and well-known techniques to the embedded systems development. Particular attention is paid to solutions that require expertise in different fields (e.g. computer architecture, OS, compilers, security, software engineering, simulation). The track will benefit also from direct experiences in the employment of embedded devices in “unconventional” application areas, so to show up new challenges in the system design/development process. In this setting, researchers and practitioners from academia and industry will get a chance to keep in touch with problems, open issues and future directions in the field of development of dedicated applications for embedded systems. This special issue in Elsevier’s Journal of Systems Architecture will consider peer-reviewed journal versions of top papers from this track, as well as other papers received from the open call.

Topics of Interest:

  1. Methodologies and tools for design-space exploration
  2. System-level design and simulation techniques for Embedded Systems
  3. Power-aware design and computing
  4. Testing, debugging, profiling and performance analysis of Embedded Systems
  5. Networked sensor devices and systems
  6. Multicore and SoC-based embedded systems and applications
  7. Middleware and virtual machines in Embedded Systems
  8. Multithreading in Embedded Systems design and development; Java embedded computing
  9. Software architectures and SOA for Embedded Systems
  10. Embedded Systems exploitation within Information Systems
  11. Multimedia management in Embedded Systems
  12. Security and dependability support within Embedded Systems
  13. OS & RTOS for Embedded Systems, Safety-critical Embedded Systems
  14. Hardware/software support for real-time applications
  15. Compilation strategies, code transformation and parallelization for Embedded Systems
  16. Special-purpose appliances and applications
  17. Case studies

Notes for Prospective Authors

Submissions fit the focus of this special issue are welcome. Authors of the selected papers from The 33rd ACM/SIGAPP Symposium On Applied Computing – Embedded Systems Track are invited to submit an extended version of their papers to Journal of Systems Architecture for possible inclusion in this special issue. All submissions will be reviewed equally in terms of technical contribution, soundness, and innovation. They should be submitted via the Journal of Systems Architecture online submission system at https://www.evise.com/profile/#/JSA/login. Authors should select “SI:ESAC2018”, from the “Choose Article Type” pull-down menu during the submission process.

All submitted papers will be peer reviewed according to the usual standards of this journal and will be evaluated based on originality, quality, and relevance to this Special Issue and the journal, and based on clarity and correct use of English. The submitted papers should be formatted according to the journal style.
