Special Issue Call for Papers:
Guest editors: Dingwen Tao, Wei Zhong and Zhisheng Yan
Scalability is one of the key evaluation criteria of modern computer systems. In particular, scalability is essential for high-performance computing (HPC) systems. High scalability represents a kind of elasticity, which can guarantee high throughput, low delay, and high performance. Additionally, with the need to process data deluge and to solve complex and large-scale problems, new computer architectures such as GPU and FPGA accelerators have emerged. While in order to meet the ever-increasing scalability of large-scale scientific applications (e.g., exascale HPC applications), improvements on these architectures are still needed. Similarly, new parallel algorithms, libraries, and software tools are needed to improve scalability.
Topics of interests include (but are not limited to):
- Scalable computing systems and networks related to
- Cloud and fog computing
- Extreme-scale, multicore, GPU accelerators, and novel architectures for scalability-rethinking
- Tools for big data
- Modelling and simulation of large complex systems
- Mobile, wireless, and pervasive computing
- Scalable machine learning and deep learning
- Blockchain and distributed ledger gechnology
Submission and Review Process
Manuscripts should not have been previously published or be under consideration by other journals. The special issue is tied to the The 21st IEEE International Conference on Scalable Computing and Communications (ScalCom 2021) (https://grid.cs.gsu.edu/~smartworld2021/scalcom/) to be held October 18 – 21, 2020 in Atlanta, USA. Selected outstanding papers presented at this conference will be invited for submission.
All papers will be screened by at least two guest editors before being sent to at least two referees. Invited papers will undergo a maximum of two rounds of revision to meet the scope and high standards of the journal.
Important Dates
Manuscript submission due: November 1, 2021First Reviews Due: January 31, 2021Revision Due: February 30, 2021Second Reviews Due: March 20, 2022Final Manuscript Due: April 1, 2022
Submission guidelines:
Submitted papers should present original, unpublished work, relevant to one of the topics of the Special Issue. All submitted papers will be evaluated on the basis of relevance, significance of contribution, technical quality, scholarship, and quality of presentation. It is the policy of the journal that no submission, or substantially overlapping submission, be published or be under review at another journal or conference at any time during the review process. Manuscripts will be subject to a peer reviewing process and must conform to the author guide lines available on the SUPE website at: https://www.springer.com/11227 .
