In recent decades, wireless communication has made a firm and remarkable impact in diversified fields. Industries like research labs, financial markets, media and weather forecasting adopts high-Performance computing to accomplish parallel processing, live streaming, reliable IT, and predictive analytics. In some computationally intensive applications like meteorology and deep neural networks training, Fast Network Interface Cards are used for boosting the network performance and data-path speed. More specifically, in many IoT applications, bio-inspired communication approaches are followed for self-organizing and self- configuration to drive the network without disruption. Moreover, in large scale networks, the present wireless communication employs the key enabling technologies like massive MIMO, Millimeter-wave spectrum, N/W ultra-densification, and scalable IoT to perform duplex communications, high bandwidth allocation, seamless coverage, and network slicing. Apart from variety of advantages in diversified data-driven fields, wireless communication is yet vulnerable to ransomware, wireless network sniffing, gain control of the router, rogue access points, wireless zero-configuration, and wireless hijacking injected by cyber criminals and eavesdroppers across the network.           For enhancing the security of such data-driven networks, several natural and bio-inspired algorithms modeled for performing secure, high-performance computing in computationally intensive applications. For instance, a) Swarm intelligence for wireless communication is a bio-inspired approach that consists of a comprehensive set of machine learning algorithms used to classify the optimal parameters, which in turn detect cyber-attacks in wireless networks, b) To detect and alleviate the attacks in a system. Honey bee based bio-inspired algorithm with foraging methods widely used for its self-organizing feature in distributed networks, c) Bio-inspired epidemic algorithms designed to detect malicious behavior in communication paths by camouflage the adversary activities through transmissive attacks, and d) In military communications, algorithms based on Bio-inspired RF steganography modeled for preventing the eavesdroppers from hearing the information by communicating through the encrypted chirp radar signals. Thus, nature and bio-inspired algorithms are beneficial in enhancing security and network performance in High performance distributed computing environments. This special issue aims to foresee the challenges and security risks that have not considered in existing nature and bio-inspired approaches. It may also outline researches and technology for nature and bio-inspired secured wireless communication in performing parallel processing and distributed computing in computationally intensive applications.The topics of interest include but are not limited to:
