Conferences on the security of information and networks address a wide range of academic, technical, and practical aspects of security and privacy. Recently, there has been an interest in how to solve ordinary as well as advanced computation needs in security and privacy using smart approaches. Collating effective attempts employing artificial intelligence for a wide span of research interests in security and privacy is likely to serve to highlight existing solutions and advance similar approaches.
Suggested topics include themes of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and other intelligent approaches to computation for smart security and privacy, especially in the following areas:
Network Security and Protocols,
Security of Cyber-Physical Systems,
Intrusion Detection and Remediation,
Computational Intelligence Techniques in Security,
Cryptographic Protocol Security, and
Formal Verification Techniques.
High-quality new or extended papers presented at related conferences, especially SIN 2020 and SIN 2019 (International Conference on Security of Information and Networks, www sinconf.org), are welcome. Submissions must not be currently under review for publication elsewhere. Conference papers may be submitted only if they are substantially extended (more than 50%), and the original papers must be referenced. All submitted papers will be peer-reviewed using the normal standards of CAEE and accepted based on quality, originality, novelty, and relevance to the theme of the special section. By submitting a paper to this issue, the authors agree to referee one paper (if asked) within the time frame of the special issue.

Atilla Elci is a full professor at the Department of Software Engineering, Hasan Kalyoncu Univ. (2020-), Gaziantep, Turkey. He has extensive academic, professional, and research experience in local and international settings. He published over a hundred articles, and 20 books and proceedings. His interests are in web semantics, agent-based systems, robotics, machine learning, knowledge representation, ontology, and information assurance. He has been organizing the IEEE ESAS Workshop, IEEE COMPSAC, and SIN Conferences. He obtained B.Sc. in Computer/Control Engineering at METU, Ankara, Turkey (1970), M.Sc. & Ph.D. in Computer Sciences at Purdue University, W. Lafayette, Indiana, USA (1973, 1975).

Berna Örs is a full Professor in the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at the Istanbul Technical University, Turkey. She received her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Electronics and Communication Engineering from the Istanbul Technical University and her pre-doctorate and Doctor of Philosophy degrees from the Department of Electrical Engineering of KatholiekeUniversiteit Leuven, Belgium. She has published extensively. Her areas of research are digital system design, cryptography, embedded system design, and side-channel attacks.

Ron Poet is an academic at the Department of Computing Science,The University of Glasgow, Glasgow, UK. He studied Mathematics at Cambridge University, England, and stayed for 11 years with a Ph.D.in Quantum Theory and a PostDoc at DAMTP. He then moved to Computing Science at the University of Glasgow, where he has stayed apart from a year’s sabbatical at the Computing Science Department of the UNC at Chapel Hill, working with Prof. Fred Brooks. His main research area is computer security, with a particular interest in user facing concerns in the areas of authentication and privacy. He has supervised 9 Ph.D.students, most of whom have continued in academia, some occupying senior positions.

Liudmila Babenko is a full professor in the Information Technology Security Department of Southern Federal University, Russia. Her professional practice includes leadership and implementation work on projects of the Russian Foundation for Basic Research and special projects in the field of information technology and information security. She was chairman of the program committee of the international conference Security of Information and Networks (SIN), 2010-2019. She has published over a hundred journal and conference papers and book chapters; co-authored a book titled Theory and Practice of Cryptography Solutions for Secure Information Systems (IGI Global), Journal of Physics: Conference Series, International Journal of Electronics and Telecommunications, and the proceedings of SIN Conferences 2009-2020 (ACM). Her Scientific and research interests include Cryptography, parallel algorithms and multiprocessor computations.
