Aims and scope of the Special Issue
Good Scientific Practice (GSP) is crucial to robust and reproducible science. However, the constant evolution of research practices and their tendency toward complexity presents challenges when balancing GSP against the employment of innovative methods. Human neurophysiological studies (e.g. M/EEG) present a number of unique challenges here: The volume and complexity of the raw data; the multidisciplinary and collaborative nature of the field; and the need to maintain strict privacy control.
This special issue will highlight key aspects of GSP at all stages of conducting research in M/EEG. Contributions are invited across all aspects of scientific practice, including experimental design and setup; instrumentation; data acquisition and processing; data modeling and simulation; statistical analyses; as well as more cross-disciplinary issues such as rigor and reliability; cognitive biases; organizing cooperation; and reporting results. Manuscript types will comprise tutorials, reviews, opinion pieces, and toolbox papers which help researchers incorporate GSP into their daily practice.
The Journal’s submission system will be open for submissions to our Special Issue from 01 Oct 2020. When submitting your manuscript please select the article type “VSI: Practice in MEEG”. Please submit your manuscript before 31 May 2021.
All submissions deemed suitable to be sent for peer review will be reviewed by at least two independent reviewers. Once your manuscript is accepted, it will go into production, and will be simultaneously published in the current regular issue and pulled into the online Special Issue. Articles from this Special Issue will appear in different regular issues of the journal, though they will be clearly marked and branded as Special Issue articles.
