The university, which is a part of the University of Texas System, has nine colleges that offer more than 180 programs. Among those, the College of Nursing and Health Innovation and the College of Engineering are some of the biggest and most popular colleges in the university. The former has produced most of the registered nurses in the state while the latter has more than 7,000 students at a time.

The university’s College of Business is also one of the most well-regarded in the country. As for its College of Science, it is a nerve center of innovation. It has faculty members who are inducted into the National Academy of Inventors and the National Academy of Sciences. Moreover, the High Energy Physics Group of the Department of Physics is working with other scientists of the Conseil européen pour la recherche nucléaire or CERN on the Large Hadron Collider. Notably, the same group was involved in the discovery of the Higgs boson particle.

In the area of medicine, the University of Texas at Arlington’s researchers are working on the ReHeal glove. This bioengineering project aims to deliver medicine to people with injured hands. What’s more, the Science and Engineering Innovation Research facility is working on the improvement of brain health, cardiovascular health, cancer, and rehabilitative medicine.

Meanwhile, in the field of energy research and development, the University’s Center for Renewable Energy and Science Technology is making headway in various endeavors. A few examples are research for the conversion of Texas lignite into crude oil that is a fraction lower than what is currently available in the market. The Center’s researchers are also developing reactors based on nanotechnology. With that, they aim to make use of fat oils as fuel.

There are more projects that professors, students, and affiliated researchers of the University of Texas at Arlington are working on. There are even groups of researchers from different disciplines that work together in line with the university’s thrust to find solutions to global problems, such as dirty water, unclean air, and disease.
