Based in Spain, the University of Córdoba (UCO) is a public university known for its programs on natural sciences and veterinary science, research activity, and historic location. These programs have been recognized by international university organizations. Meanwhile, its campuses are located in Córdoba, the city with the most UNESCO World Heritage Sites in the world.
UCO is organized into 10 faculties and schools, centered on subjects like agriculture, medicine, veterinary science, philosophy, law, business, and natural sciences. It offers 34 undergraduate, 46 graduate, and 11 doctoral programs, some of which are taught in English. Established in 1972, UCO traces its roots in the Free University of Córdoba, which operated until 1878. Nearly a century after the latter’s closing, UCO assumed its position as the foremost university in the city as it expanded on the Free University’s course offerings and facilities while maintaining some of its core competencies like the veterinary science program.
As of 2020, UCO opens its doors to more than 14,500 undergraduates, 3,300 postgraduates, 1,800 teaching staff, and 760 research and office support employees. Its work on agricultural science and food science has led it to become a member of the Agrifood Campus of International Excellence, which features five renowned universities in Spain’s southern region. The school has also forged academic partnerships with universities from five continents.
