The University of Augsburg is a public university situated in the Universitätsviertel area of Augsburg, Germany. Since it is located in a university city, Augsburg students have immediate access to the city’s attractions and amenities. Meanwhile, its compact campus allows students quick entry to any of the school’s departments and facilities.

Augsburg’s academics are organized into eight faculties, namely (1) Economics and Business, (2) Law, (3) Catholic Theology, (4) Philosophy and Social Sciences, (5) History and Philology, (6) Mathematics and Natural Sciences, (7) Applied Computer Science, and (8) Medicine. Established in 1970 by economist Louis Perridon, the University of Augsburg was founded on the idea of putting up a modern university for business and social sciences that centered on reform. The school addressed the large demand for education in the Bavarian state, paving the way for its rapid expansion.

As of 2020, Augsburg accommodates over 20,000 students, of whom more than 1,800 belong to the international community, and around 5,000 faculty members. It also has its own language center, with courses in English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, and Italian, to improve communications in courses that necessitate multilingualism. Furthermore, the school has partnered with more than 40 universities in five continents to expand its academic offerings and knowledge base.
