Harvard University is a private research university widely recognized as one of the most prestigious schools in the world. Founded in 1636 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Harvard is the oldest institution of higher learning in the US.

The university currently comprises 12 degree-granting schools, including graduate and professional schools, Harvard College, and the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study. Harvard College serves as the university's undergraduate community, offering Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees in more than 50 fields of study. Once students get their first degree from Harvard College. they can enroll in the university's graduate and professional schools, including Harvard Law School, Harvard Business School, and Harvard Medical School.
