Special Issue Call for Papers:

Overview

Autonomic computing is a self-managing computing model named after, and patterned on, the human body’s autonomic nervous system. An autonomic computing system would control the functioning of computer applications and systems without input from the user, in the same way that the autonomic nervous system regulates body systems without conscious input from the individual. The goal of autonomic computing is to create systems that run themselves, capable of high-level functioning while keeping the system’s complexity invisible to the user. The need for such autonomic system and application management is becoming critical as computing infrastructures become increasingly heterogeneous, integrating different classes of resources from high-end HPC systems to commodity clusters and clouds. Clouds are complex, large-scale, and heterogeneous distributed systems, management of whose resources is a challenging task. They need automated and integrated intelligent strategies for provisioning of resources to offer services that are secure, reliable, and cost-efficient. Hence, effective management of services becomes fundamental in software platforms that constitute the fabric of computing Clouds.

Submission Guidelines:

Unpublished manuscripts, or extended versions of papers presented at related conferences, are welcome. Submissions must not be currently under review for publication elsewhere. Conference papers may be submitted only if they are completely re-written or substantially extended (more than 50%), and must be referenced. All submitted papers will be peer-reviewed using the normal standards of CAEE. By submitting a paper to this issue, the authors agree to referee one paper (if asked) within the time frame of the special issue.

Anand Paul is currently working in the School of Computer Science and Engineering, Kyungpook National University, South Korea as an associate professor. He previously served as assistant professor at Hanyang University from 2010 to 2012. Globally, he represents Korea as an MPEG (Motion Picture Expert Group) and Delegate for the M2M Focus group for the International Telecommunication Union. He got his the Ph.D. degree in the electrical engineering at National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan, R.O.C. in 2010. His research interests include Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Big Data Analytics (specialized in Healthcare), . From 2004 to 2010 he has been awarded Outstanding International Student Scholarship, and in 2009 he won the best paper award in national computer symposium, Taipei, Taiwan. He serves in the editorial board of IEEE Access, IET Wireless Sensor, ACM Applied Computing Review, Cyber-Physical Systems (Taylor and Francis). He also serves as reviewer for several IEEE, ACM and IET Journals. He gave several keynote speeches in several international conferences. He continuously serve as the track chair for Smart-Human Computer Interaction session in ACM SAC since 2014 till 2019. He has participated on several National Projects from National Research Foundation (South Korea).

Sabita Maharjan received her Ph.D. degree in Networks and Distributed Systems from University of Oslo, and Simula Research Laboratory, Norway, in 2013. She is currently a Senior Research Scientist in Simula Research Laboratory, Norway. She worked as a Research Engineer in Institute for Infocom Research (I2R), Singapore in 2010. She was a Visiting Scholar at Zhejiang University (ZU), Hangzhou, China in 2011, and a Visiting Research Collaborator in University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign (UIUC) in 2012. She was a Postdoctoral Fellow at Simula Research laboratory, Norway from 2014 to 2016. Her current research interests include wireless networks, network security and resilience, smart grid communications, cyber-physical systems, machine-to-machine communications, and software defined wireless networking.
