Aims & Scope of the Journal

Operations Research has been a flagship journal for the operations research community since its inception in the 1950s. Today, the journal maintains a commendable position among journals in the operations research and management science field broadly defined, but it faces a changing environment. To continue its tradition of presenting the best of the science of optimal decision making, the journal seeks to attract the most innovative and impactful work in the discipline and to assess and refine that work in a timely manner that ensures current relevance as well as archival value into the future. The new structure of the journal’s editorial areas, e.g., highlighting work in market innovation and creative uses of data for decision-making, is aimed to capture and record the best of the science of operations research.The science of decision-making embodied in Operations Research encompasses many areas.
