The practice of Interaction Design may involve the use of various methodologies, processes, and techniques in every stage of the design cycle. Computer-based tools can support practitioners during ideation, analysis, design, implementation, and evaluation stages, as well as during management of the design cycle and communication between team members. For example, computer-based tools can be used during an ideation session to help participants create, search, associate, manipulate, and agree on a set of concepts to the used in the design of a product. In particular, cases where participants are not co-located, computer tools may help providing a shared virtual space between all participants and facilitate communication. Tools can also be used later in the design cycle, to gather usage data, e.g., through user-testing or through real-world usage, that allow the design to be improved in subsequent revisions. Computer-based tools used during interaction design may be specific to a given design technique or process, or more generic tools used also for other applications or in other day-to-day activities.

In this track, we are interested in web-based tools to support (part of) the interaction design cycle.

– Tools developed specifically for the purpose of aiding in a particular stage or method;

– Reports of reports about the usage of generic web-based tools and how they impacted in the design cycle;

– Reports that balance a technical description and an evaluation of those tools during the interaction design process;

– Reflections that show the specificities of using web technologies (differences to non-web-based tools, advantages, challenges).
